Linden Lab aquires SLX and Onrez
Read here for limited details.
Does this mean LL is incharge for customer issues? Because the phone numbers listed on SLX's site, they don't go anywhere.
I would seriously rather have no online commerce than have to deal with SLX again. They fucking fail.

"Fairly early on, Linden Lab saw the inherent value that web marketplaces such as Xstreet SL and OnRez offer to buyers, sellers and content creators. After watching this industry grow we have decided to buy them both out as we're greedy s.o.b's"
Wouldn't be surprised Noam, also wouldn't be surprised if certain items will cease to be available on the 'new' site.
The whole thing stinks !!!
Seriously though dude, I would take Linden Labs over "virtuatrade" or whatever the fuck they call themselves ANY DAY.
I actually TRUST Linden Labs.
If they keep the SLX staff and their current TOS, then fuck that noise.
I know other people who have had problems with SLX, ive not used it that much tbh
But i just dont trust LL, i could sit here all day listing the reasons why lol
I guess the proof will be in the pudding, let's see what LL do to the site.
Well, Linden Labs has never given out my personal information and I've never had to hire a lawyer consult because of them so that's 2 things they rock at over SLX.
I'm hoping we get the best of all 3- SLX's categories and search functions, OnRez's wallet, vendors and no fees, and LL's ... well, I guess one site to file problems with is a bonus rather than separate areas.
I can answer the LL one.
LL's privacy policy.
SLX will give out your information to anyone.
I hate SLX's search engine. OnRez has better tagging and more relevant search results.
WORD, Noam! I hate it that LL will shut down OnRez and intends to keep SLX.
Let's hope LL will sort your DMCA issues properly then!
I grief the loss of Onrez though. I think SLX stuff should be moved to Onrez, not the other way around.
I can't decide wether LL taking over SLX is a good or a bad thing. I mean, SLX worked pretty decently imo before, except for the fact that they didn't really respect your privacy .. I guess I'll have to say it's a good thing til proven otherwise.
The privacy thing is kinda huge.
I don't use them to cash out and I never used them for sales.
LL's cash out turn around is like 3 days, which is not a big deal to me.
Concerning to DMCAs, I send (via fax) about 5-6 DMCAs to LindenLab every week! Last one was yesterday, a 9 pages DMCA! ;/
The bad thing is, SLX used to be very fast attending to my DMCAs ( LL is taking now more than a week, sometimes 10 days, sometimes even more, sometimes forever!!!).... the good thing is, from now on I think I'm gonna have to send only one the DMCA to LL (I hope they will remove products from the web too!)
You realize that every DMCA you filed with SLX, they sent it to the person who you filed it against so they have your RL information.
what???? Are you kidding???? They cant do it! Its my privacy! Gonna send them an email right now!
They can't send all my RL personal infos to the infringer! Damn!!!!!!
is that sarcasm? All they are going to say is "it's in our TOS"
At least no one sent you threats. I got threats.
omg... well, I really didnt know about that, and thanks for letting me know. This is all too wrong!
Today a costumer has found a some spanish girl distributting loads of GothiCatz folders all full perms at a Freebies island, and this week I have faxed already 7 DMCAs again (mostly against btrazilians), this will never end, I'm exausted! I dont have time for creating anymore. I quit!
@Looloo: I'm starting to foresee a day when I'll have to start pretending I'm not from Brazil.
I don't blame foreigners though, brazilians an internet can come to a very lousy result.
^*brazilians anD internet, I mean.
@Looloo an Noam: I'm so sorry to have to hear about all you trouble with copycats an DMCA. It's eating you're time you should be spending creating! I love both of you stuff! I realy don;t think it's a good thing that LL gets to monopolize the SL trade!
Please, both of you, keep the creativity going!
