Uh kaaaay

Don't file DMCA's with SLX when you find your stuff on there. File them with Linden Labs.

SLX:
"DMCA notifications and counter-notifications sent to Virtuatrade are real-world legal notices and will be treated as such. Copies of these documents will be sent to participants or third parties as required by law. The Xstreet SL Privacy Policy specifically states that your personal information may be disclosed in connection with these notices."

They send the crazy people whom you file against your personal information.

Hmm, sounds like SLX are a bit fuzzy with the law...

Linden have special status as a service provider - they can't be held responsible for any content held on their network. You file a DMCA and they are legally obliged to take action - but they can never have any prior knowledge of content or they lose their ISP status.

SLX or XStreet SL (stupidest name ever!) cannot claim to be an ISP and get the same immunity. Surely they ARE responsible for content and could be held liable for it? Shouldn't any DMCA be filed against SLX themselves?

they sent my personal information to someone unstable who sent me a threatening email yesterday. It's great.

If you get threats from the people you file against thanks to them giving your info, doesn't that mean they've got more liability and you could lump them into a lawsuit, if you wanted to go that route?

If I get contacted again I am supposed to report the person and the SLX company, Virtuatrade, to the police.

SLX basically said yes we gave out your information, thanks for using SLX.

I don't even use SLX, I was just reporting my shit being on it.

I don't use SLX either, except for the occasional browse for an item (and then I try to find the store/creator inworld, if I want the item).

I don't think you're the first creator I've seen to complain about their giving info out when DMCAs are filed and it leading to harassment; I wish I could remember where else I saw a complaint.
