EMUSIC! *flail*

My downloads refreshed. I already used 12 on Cold War Kids. I have 48 left.

These are on my maybe list but I can't remember why they are there:

  1. godspeed you!black emperor Got it!

  2. Margot & the Nuclear So & Sos Got it and love it!

  3. Beirut

  4. Young Galaxy

  5. Gotan project Got it from Brandon!

  6. The Dollyrots

  7. Cat Power

I like collabs I've heard with Cat Power singing, I don't know if I'll like her solo stuff.

So is anyone familiar with the above and can say that some of those are worth using my precious downloads on.

Or suggest music to me?
I like indie, hip hop & jazz.
No metal unless it's melodic (i.e. Nevermore). I don't like to listen to people rawring into mics.
Glam metal is ok if it's ridiculous and over the top.
I don't even know what passes for punk anymore... O_o
No electronica & no buttrock.

;_; emusic doesn't carry their label.

But I might go to Newbury Comics tomorrow and I'll pick them up.

well test em out first... you might not like em. LOL they kinda remind me of 80s music in a way.

We like a lot of the same stuff, I'm sure I'd dig them.

Oh, and wtf is buttrock? I don't think I should google that at work :)

Buttrock: Anything inspired by/is/or sounds like Nickleback, Creed, Theory of Dead man, Muddle of Mudd, Pearl Jam, that dude from the Red Sox...

I dunno why it's buttrock, but that's what the local Boston radio stations call it.

I have a lot of Soul Coughing remixes. They are very bouncy and happy. I'll have to look into other stuff. When they were around in the 90s, I was in my metal phase. >_o Now I just want to listen to music that keeps me awake and in a pleasant mood.

Godspeed You! Black Emperor is worth your download tickets, if you like post-rock at all. They were the first p-r group that I ever really got into (and I'm still not huge into the genre; the groups I like are relatively mainstream). If you've heard Explosions in the Sky, it's pretty similar.
As far as Cat Power goes, I've only ever heard her album You Are Free. She's a little bit like Belle and Sebastian.

I could share some of this stuff, but I use iTunes. Don't know what you use (I don't know what works with Emusic), you could do Winamp too if I'm not mistaken. So at least you can try it before spending your tickets.

I use iTunes. Emusic is just a website that carries more indie labels than itunes and it's much much cheaper. Plus the MP3s aren't locked to your iTunes.

My boss will buy stuff but I can't listen to it because it's password protected. :/ I don't buy from iTunes, I'm not rich... yet. X3

I can hear samples on the site but they are really short. They don't do the chorus, just the beginning.

Oh, cool. I was looking at going with Emusic anyway, just was worried it wouldn't work out since I'm locked down into Apple territory, so that's a relief. Give me a minute, I'll upload my favourite from GY!BE and one from Cat Power too.

Awesome!!! Thank you so much! :3

Do you want me to delete your comment to keep your DL's down? I don't know how that site works, I just know that people will be able to search for those now through Hype.

ok So I go one GY!BE CD because it was only 4 downloads and and hour and a half of music. It's kinda trippy.

While I don't -Hate- Cat Power, I really her compliation work more. It's a different sound, more R&B.

Thank you so much for uploading those songs!

What's funny is I actually downloaded an Explosions from the Sky track...

Post Rock isn't really my thing, but I like it, it's good background music.

So now I'm curious. Which GY!BE album did you wind up getting?

At 7:52 AM , Blogger Noam said...

It's got hands on the cover...

The album was "Lift your skinny wrists like antennas to the sky"

I think I don't mind it too much cause I like stuff like Mars Volta.

And Explosions, the song "First breath after Coma" is awesome.
