God luck with the surgery! I have to admit I'm scared shitless by hospitals. And just tell your boss to stuff it-sick leave is sick leave, not just a little pining and still working. I'll go and get my hair cut in a few weeks' time and bring a pic of your Metric hair as a model for the hairdresser....that honour enough? ;-)
I totally love it and bought it in several colours, it's in one of my "OMG I need to change, and quick" standard folders too....I *was* about to ask whether you had a reference pic for it! ;) I just hope my stupid hair will agree to get cut like that!
